August 7 The Dayramir González Trío in the Mazarron Rejazz Festival
Top Latin Jazz in the 2024 al fresco Mares de Papel season in Puerto de Mazarrón
Dayramir González has been described as the natural successor in the long line of Cuban jazz pianist legends, from Bebo Valdés through Chucho Valdés and Gonzalo Rubalcaba to the present day, and began his professional career at the tender age of 16 in the Afro-Cubano Diákara band of Oscar Valdés, rapidly gaining recognition at the JoJazz festival in Havana in 2004 and 2005
A year later he won Chucho Valdez’s JoJazz Competition and recorded his first album before being awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, the first Cuban to be granted this privilege. Ever since, he has continued to captivate audiences in both North and South America as well as Europe, while at the same time remaining faithful to his Cuban roots.
Line-up
Dayramir González (piano)
Gastón Joya (electric bass)
Rey Ponce (percussion)
The show on Wednesday August 7th begins at 22.00 at the headland of El Castellar, at the western end of Playa de Bahía (click for map).
Note: all events in the Mares de Papel season are free of charge, with no need for prior booking. However, space is limited and an early arrival is recommended, especially in the case of the popular ReJazz events: entry is permitted from half an hour before the advertised start time.
No further admissions will be allowed 15 minutes after the events start. Once inside, eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted, and pets are not allowed to enter.
