The new public bus service between Los Alcázares and the Los Arcos hospital in San Javier came into service during July 2015, using a pioneering new system in which the amount of capacity of transport provided is flexed in order to match demand on any particular day.
This works by requests to travel on the route being logged by the passengers themselves as they reserve their journeys by telephone or online, the idea being that in this way the service is more efficient and its economic viability is enhanced.
The new service comes in response to numerous demands from the residents and Town Hall of Los Alcázares, and now those wishing to avail themselves of the service can reserve seats by freephone on 900 907353,email (travelpym@ramonroca.e.telefonica.net) or online at the website www.autobusestravelpym.com. All reservations will be confirmed, and the company in charge of running the service will ensure that the bus stops where requested to pick up passengers.
The service will run from Monday to Friday between 8.15 and 14.15, with a maximum of five stops along the route. These are two in Avenida de la Libertad (one outside the Town Hall and the other on the corner with Calle Santa Ana on the outward journey and on the corner with Calle Rodríguez de Almela on the return journey), Avenida de la Constitución (next to the taxi rank in Los Narejos), Plaza Roma (at the mining complex) and Avenida Justo Quesada. The cost per journey is 1.50€.
In principle the route will be served by a 19-seater minibus, but this will be replaced by a 50-seater coach on occasions where demand makes it necessary.
