Cartagena promotes the rural treasures of Perín, Tallante, Isla Plana and La Azohía
Tourism in and around Cartagena is more than Roman architecture and spectacular beaches!
The city and municipality of Cartagena is blessed with several major tourist attractions including the magnificent Roman architecture which is still being revealed, the unique landscape of the Mar Menor and the superb Mediterranean beaches which attract visitors from all over Spain and the rest of Europe every summer, but a less well-known string to the bow of Cartagena is the rural treasures which can be found in the west of the municipality.
In order to make these assets known to a wider public, the Town Hall is making use of public funds to promote various attractions of this area, creating video clips with subtitles in both Spanish and English to describe and show some of the most attractive locations and features. These include the walking routes of Isla Plana, Tallante, Santa Bárbara, Agua de Perín, Agua de Galifa and Cuestas del Cedacero, the greenway of La Aljorra, the countryside of El Portús and numerous ethnographic features, such as the Rambla del Cañar water mill and water wheel, the windmills of Tallante, the small church of San Antonio de Padua, the “Casa de los Ingleses” in Perín, the gun battery of Castillitos and the Torre Santa Elena watchtower in La Azohía.
The Town Hall’s page containing information on these sites can be found here.
