FAST – FIRST AID SUPPORT TEAM – PROVIDING A FIRST RESPONDER SERVICE FOLLOWING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES IN CAMPOSOL
In the event of a medical emergency please call 112, then call FAST on 868 487 015 for immediate first aid support.
FAST is a team of volunteers who are fully trained in life saving techniques and provide a first responder service. Their services are available free of charge to all residents of and visitors to Camposol. The service is not designed to replace the emergency services but to provide a bridge between the time of the call to 112 and the arrival of the emergency services. These vital minutes are recognised as being potentially critical for a good outcome for treatment – and in some cases, survival until the arrival of the emergency services. The presence of FAST responders during this period provides both first aid for the patient but also provides essential support for family and friends. All responders are trained and authorised to administer CPR and use the defibrillators which are carried in the FAST vehicles, as well as being trained in many other first aid procedures and practices.
The team meet for regular weekly training sessions each Tuesday morning between 10am to 12 noon in the Cultural Centre, Camposol B to ensure that all responders are kept up to date and practice the procedures in which they are trained. FAST are always in need of more responders – anyone interested in becoming a responder is welcome to join them at one of the Tuesday training sessions or to email fast_trainer2@outlook.com for further information.
FAST receives no governmental funding so is reliant on its fundraising activities organised by the small fundraising team. Details of fundraising activities are available both on the FAST Fun Team – Camposol Facebook page or directly from the team at the FAST desk outside The Diner, B Sector Camposol each Friday morning between 10.30 am -12.30 pm. And any offers of assistance with the fundraising activities are always welcome.
