The best luxury rooftop bars to visit in the Region of Murcia
Sky bars offer a unique nightlife experience and we’ve rounded up some of the trendiest spots in the Region
It all began, as so many things do, with the iconic backdrop of Manhattan at the end of the last century, where space was at a premium and visitors and locals alike searched for the perfect vantage point to enjoy the truly unique skyline. Now, rooftop bars and terraces have taken the world by storm and there can be no better way to enjoy a balmy summer’s night than sipping a cocktail high above the hustle and bustle below.
And rivalling rooftop bars in capitals like Paris, Budapest and Madrid is the Region of Murcia, with some of Spain’s most spectacular terraces in the sky.
Here, we’ve rounded up the top 6.
1. Odiseo
The six floors of the Odiseo leisure venue in Murcia offer a jaw-dropping spectacle from the moment you walk through the door, but the star of the show has to be the panoramic Olímpica sky bar right at its peak.
Featuring the largest infinity pool in Europe, this is an exclusive space available by reservation only and ideal for private parties.
But on the floor just below is possibly one of the most unique spaces in the Region: ‘Lucky’s Balcony’, which plays host to an enormous black and white rabbit statue with live music at all times.
2. Hotel Jardines de Lorca
The perfect spot to enjoy dinner or drinks, the sky bar at this Lorca hotspot is situated at the heart of Las Alamedas overlooking the Castle, which is lit up beautifully at night.
The Hotel Jardines de Lorca boasts the one-of-a-kind L’Azotea Lounge Garden which plays live music on spring and summer evenings.
3. Real Casino de Murcia
The Real Casino de Murcia is world famous in its own right but the rooftop terrace is an experience not to be missed. This small yet charming bar is located in the heart of the city and is part of a building named a national historical-artistic monument in 1983.
The newly-renovated sky bar offers drinks and a tapas menu overlooking the cathedral for a relaxed evening. Those after a more formal experience can book a table in the restaurant, which offers a traditional menu with avant-garde touches, and equally spectacular views.
4. Parador de Lorca
Located in the grounds of the Castle of Lorca, the Helios restaurant on the third floor offers guests unbeatable views over the top of the city.
Many visitors to the Parador choose to book in for the night so that they can not only enjoy the incredible rooftop, but take advantage of the full range of facilities available at the spa and indoor pool.
5. Hotel Julián
Although it is part of the Hotel Julián in Alhama de Murcia, the terrace bar-restaurant is open to the public. The sky bar gives a rural feel at the heart of the municipality with a grass terrace and breathtaking views of the skyline, much of which is illuminated after dark.
6. Miramar La Ribera
Located in Santiago de la Ribera, this is the place to be if you’re hoping for a unique lookout over the Mar Menor. The sky bar is perfect for a relaxed drink, but lunch and dinner are also available on the rooftop terrace.
The Miramar’s speciality is Mediterranean cuisine and the restaurant, one of the top rated in Santiago de la Ribera, caters widely to vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs.
