The tourist office of Torre Pacheco was created as recently as 2003, during the residential tourism boom which saw numerous golf resorts appear both within and alongside the municipality, and since then has grown both in importance and in the quality of services it provides to both residents and tourists.
Initially the efforts of the staff focussed on four main tourist routes – those of Cabezo Gordo, the windmills in the countryside, the crop-growing areas and the town centre – but since then numerous other aspects have proved at least as popular. These include open days at the Sima de las Palomas prehistoric archaeological and paleontological site, gastronomy events, and many more.
At present a lot of time is being devoted to achieving sustainable tourism accreditation and creating “intelligent tourism” communications networks, but the hub remains the office in the CAES centre in the heart of the town (click for map). Here the fully qualified staff strive to provide you with all the information you need to make the most of your time in Torre Pacheco and the surrounding area, recommending places to visit, things to do and upcoming events as well as practical help. The multitude of leaflets on offer will help you to fully enjoy the Costa Cálida and the Mar Menor!
