Until January 31 Ramón Gaya art exhibition in Mazarron
An anthology of paintings by one of the best known Murcia artists of the 20th century
The artist Ramón Gaya Pomés was born in 1910 in Murcia and such was his devotion to painting that he left school early in order to pursue his career. Throughout the rest of the century he achieved great renown, despite the ordeal of a self-imposed exile which began after the Spanish Civil War in 1939 (and after a few days in a concentration camp) and lasted until the mid-1970s.
He died in Valencia at the age of 95 in 2005.
Still much revered in his home city, where a permanent museum is named after him, his work is also involved in travelling exhibitions such as the “Antología” which can be seen at the CIME building in Mazarrón (Avenida de la Constitución, 65) until the end of January. The exhibition is open on weekdays between 19.00 and 21.00, other than on national holidays.
