British mile-high club couple arrested on arrival at Alicante
Passengers shocked by drunken antics of pair on flight with many children on board
The couple flew from Luton
A British couple got drunk on a flight to Alicante-Elche airport, and had sex in the airplane toilets after announcing their intentions to the rest of the passengers.
The incident reportedly took place on an easyJet flight from Luton airport on August 8.
Several passengers said both of the pair, who seemed to be in their thirties, started getting drunk during the journey, with one witness saying: “They made a lot of noise in their seats and the woman seemed quite drunk.”
This witness claimed that the woman refused crew members’ suggestions that she drink something non-alcoholic, shouted “I’m not going to drink coffee!” at a stewardess, and demanded more alcohol.
She had even shouted that they were going to join the ‘mile-high club’, the witness assured.
Things got even more uncomfortable when the woman allegedly said she was feeling sick, tried to vomit into a bin liner and then almost knocked over a child as she ran to the bathroom.
“He went in and they locked the door and soon all sorts of loud noises and grunts and groans started,” the witness said.
“I was right nearby but most passengers could hear it and it was awful in front of so many kids.”
A stewardess repeatedly told them to stop but eventually gave up and informed the pilot.
A spokesperson for easyJet said: “We can confirm that flight EZY2317 from Luton to Alicante on 8 August was met by police upon landing in Alicante due to some passengers behaving disruptively onboard.
“Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately, to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time,” the airline representative assured.
“We take these incidents seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.”
