How to watch the Super Bowl 2025 in Spain

The Super Bowl is the culmination of the National Football League season, played between the winners of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC).

It is a massive event in the sporting calendar each year, being broadcast not only in the USA but around the whole world to millions of international viewers. It is as popular for its famous Super Bowl halftime show as it is for the sporting competition, as the entertainment midway through the game is provided by the biggest names imaginable in pop music.

This year, the Kansas City Chiefs, who won last year, are the favourites to win in the latest Super Bowl odds, narrowly edging it over the Philadelphia Eagles. The game is being broadcast on TelevisaUnivision in Spanish and although the time difference will make it awkward, they are estimating there will be a record audience. Despite there being no current Spaniards in the NFL, there is still plenty of interest in the game and there are even rumours Spain could host a game in the near future.

For international citizens and foreigners living in Spain or visiting Europe while the Super Bowl is on, it can sometimes be a challenge to find out how and where to see the Super Bowl live. Thankfully, there are several options for watching the Super Bowl in Spain and Europe:

Watch the Super Bowl live in a bar in Spain

While American Football is not, as a rule, a particularly popular sport in Spain, or indeed anywhere outside of the United States, it is possible to watch the Super Bowl live in sports bars and certain establishments in major Spanish cities like Barcelona and Madrid.

Ordinarily, American Football games are not shown in these places throughout the year, but because the Super Bowl is such a big event and is so important on an international scale, it is pretty much the only American Football game that it will be possible to see on television in a bar in Spain.

There are some sports bars in Barcelona that even host a Super Bowl Party to cater for the (mostly American) fans of this sport who find themselves in the city in early February. Some of the most popular sports bars for fans in Barcelona to watch the NFL final include:

Stream the Super Bowl live, watch on TV or listen on the radio

If you have a VPN, it is able to change your location on your computer or phone to be able to receive NFL television coverage online from ESPN or other common sports broadcasters.

Alternatively, the NFL often makes it possible for American servicemen and -women stationed in Europe to access the Super Bowl on the AFN global television and radio networks.

When and where is the Super Bowl in 2024?

The Super Bowl being played in 2025 will be Super Bowl LIX, the 59th annual Super Bowl since its inception. It is played in a different US stadium each year, and since 2022 it has been played on the second Sunday in February. In 2025, the Super Bowl will be played in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Casears Superdome on Sunday February 9, 2025.

It is not just one short sporting event, though, and there are events in the week leading up to the main game. This is known as Super Bowl Week, and there are plenty of immersive experiences for fans to enjoy the complete Super Bowl Experience!

Who is playing the Super Bowl halftime show 2025?

One of the most hotly anticipated parts of the Super Bowl every year, above and beyond the sports action, is the halftime show, which always features superstars from the world of pop music.

In 2025, the Super Bowl halftime show is being performed by Kendrick Lamar. Local New Orleans artist Jon Batiste will be singing the national anthem pre-game.

What time is the Super Bowl 2025 in Spain?

The kickoff time of Super Bowl LIX will be at 6.30pm ET, which is perfect for evening viewers in the USA, of course, but the time difference means that watching the Super Bowl in Europe is always a question of staying up late specifically to be able to see it.

6.30pm Eastern Time is equivalent to 11.30pm in the UK and in Spain’s Canary Islands (Greenwich Mean Time or GMT), and it is 12.30am on Monday February 10, 2025 in mainland Spain and in the Balearic Islands.

That means that in 2025, sports fans who wish to see the Super Bowl live will have to stay up to see the start of the game after midnight and stay awake until it finishes in the early hours of the morning – no small task on a Monday morning, when many people will have to go to work straight afterwards!
