Ex-Servicemens Association of Mazarrón District [ESAMD]
A non-profit organisation for those ex-Servicemen and women and their dependents who miss the friendship and support of forces life and wish to associate with similar people. The association aims to offer help when needed, maintain the traditions of the past and to keep people in touch with old comrades. Full membership of the Association is open to any person who has served in any of the Armed Forces or their dependents, and the association draws members from across the Region of Murcia.
The Ex-Servicemens Association of Mazarron District [ESAMD], is registered in the Community of Murcia and was formed as a non-profitable organisation, so that those who are no longer serving can help to maintain the traditions of the past and keep in touch and help their comrades.
Ian Wilson, Honorary Life President, was previously in the RAF and was attempting to open a Royal Air Forces Association in the Murcia region, but due to insufficient volunteers, it didn't get off the ground. Ian was working with a very good friend, the late Alan Tolley [ex RN], and various other options were looked at and it was agreed that an ex-Servicemens Association be formed. Sadly, Alan passed away so Ian pressed on with the initiative.
A committee was formed, constitution raised and steps were taken to make the Association official and to get it registered as a charity. With great assistance from Carlos of Properties Solutions, the Constitution was accepted by the Spanish Government and The Ex-Servicemens Association of Mazarron District [ESAMD] was officially registered.
The Association is non-profitable, non-sectarian and non-political in the strictest sense. In no circumstances shall it, as a body, take sides in any political or industrial dispute but it may, if the need arises, it will make representations to the government or any other body on any matters regarding the welfare of Ex-Servicemen generally.
Full membership of the Association is open to any person who has served in any of the Armed Forces or their dependents. The Association will extend such help as is possible to any members or other ex-servicemen, irrespective of nationality, when necessary. In addition to Committee meetings, they hold a function every month at different restaurants, details on their Facebook page, and the membership is going from strength to strength.
