€3,000 boost for Andalucía self-employed to swap old cars

Junta aid targets efficient non-electric vehicles for pros with 10-year-plus bangers

Self-employed workers in Andalucía can soon apply for €3,000 aid from the Junta de Andalucía to replace vehicles over ten years old with efficient non-electric ones. Single professionals qualify directly by scrapping their old car and buying a new one that meets the rules. Industry Minister Jorge Paradela announced it Tuesday at the eMobility Expo World Congress in Malaga, with an initial €5 million budget.

The Andalusian Energy Agency runs the programme. It covers new passenger cars (M1) or vans (N1 up to 3,500 kg max mass) emitting no more than 120 g CO₂/km and costing up to €35,000 before VAT. Options include outright purchase, leasing or renting, as long as first registered in Spain from January 1 2026. Submit your application online yourself, no agents needed, for a non-competitive grant paid within one month without paperwork delays.

Everything is automated and 100% online to keep it simple and quick. Paradela noted past aids focused on electric cars, a "technology of the future that continues to advance but that even today does not fully adapt to the needs of all users, such as self-employed professionals." This widens incentives to other low-emission tech, helping renew a fleet where over 63% of vehicles are more than ten years old.

Transport takes 43.4% of Andalucía’s final energy demand, 94.3% from petroleum products. Updating the fleet supports the Andalusia Energy Strategy 2030 for sustainable mobility.

Dealerships will help spread the word. The Junta signed a four-year deal with Faconauto for promotion, dialogue on efficient solutions and funding info.

For self-employed drivers like taxi operators or delivery vans, it's real help to ditch unreliable old motors for something dependable. Purchases can start right away from the new year. It's practical help to modernise without forcing full electric shifts yet.
